Home Sweet Home

We are not the only ones enjoying the space provided by the new workshop. A mother wren also decided it would make an ideal spot to make her home. Since the soffits of the building haven't been finished, she was able to fly inside and find a cozy spot to build her nest and lay her eggs. What you're looking at is Fred's blue rain jacket lying in a Rubbermaid bin on the floor. Mama bird formed her nest inside the sleeve of that jacket and proceeded to deposit 3 speckled eggs into it. I hope most of our noisy, power-tool requiring projects can wait long enough for those babies to hatch and fly off. I love this time of year when all the little creatures are being born!

This is what happens...

when a child gets hold of Mommy's makeup pencil. Apparently, Audrey thought her eyebrows needed a little "oomph." :)

Spring is Here!

Warmer weather returned soon to melt the snow, and we've enjoyed spending most of our days outdoors planting flowers, feeding ducks, swinging and playing. The only thing that would make this weather perfect would be if someone could vacuum up all the horrid pollen with a gigantic shop-vac.

Nothing wrong with a little child labor, is there?

Snow in Alabama

The first day of March brought few inches of snow along with it. Just the day before, we had the pleasure of hunkering down in the cold, wet crawl space under the house while a tornado and torrential downpour passed by overhead. Thankfully, we were spared of any damage from that episode. Audrey enjoyed the snowfall immensely, although she spent more time eating the snow and less time actually playing in it. Lila had a look of wonderment about her, as well as slight bewilderment, as she surveyed the white landscape around her. We played, built a snowman, drank hot chocolate, made chicken soup and basically just had a wonderful time together as a family. Here are some of the pictures from the day. I accidentally loaded them in reverse order, but you get the idea.
